Announcements

  • Workout reservations are no longer required for access to the recreation facilities. 
  • Basketball courts are open at the Student Recreation and Activities Center (Kennesaw Campus) and the Recreation and Wellness Center (Marietta Campus)! 

The Department of Sports and Recreation is committed to mitigating the risk to COVID-19 exposure for our students, patrons, and staff. We've implemented safety guidelines for facilities, programs, and services to include increased cleaning protocols and an updated code of conduct for use of all recreation facilities.  

Facility protocols and hours are subject to change as information from the CDC, the Georgia Department of Public Health, University System of Georgia, and Kennesaw State University is received.

Reservations

Workout reservations will no longer be requried for entry into the recreation centers. 

Facility Guidelines

  • We will follow current CDC guidelines and Georgia Department of Public Health safe practices for COVID-19.
  • Pursuant to updated guidance from the University System of Georgia (USG) and the CDC, fully vaccinated individuals can resume campus classes and other activities without wearing a mask. Unvaccinated individuals are strongly encouraged to continue wearing a face covering while inside campus facilities.
  • All patrons are encouraged to:
    • Self-monitor - if you are not feeling well or experiencing any of the symptoms related to COVID-19, please stay home.  
    • Wash your hands regularly 
    • Cough or sneeze into your elbow or tissue to cover your sneeze 
    • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects  
  • Gym wipes will be available in all areas for patrons to wipe down equipment before and after use
  • Hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout each recreation facility
  • Contactless entry – patrons will be able to swipe/tap their own KSU ID to enter and exit the facility 
  • Facility waivers will be completed online
    • How to sign the facility waiver: 
      • Visit mysportsrec.kennesaw.edu 
      • On the top right select “log in” 
      • Log in with your NetID and password 
      • The waiver will appear 
      • Review waiver and click “Accept Now”  
      • You will now have a waiver on file and will not have to re-sign during the duration of your time at KSU.
    • Minors will be able to complete their waiver through Owl Express 
      • Login to Owl Express
      • Navigate to Student Services tab 
      • Click on “Sports and Recreation Waiver for Minors” 
      • If no form is on file, 
        • Click on “Click here to receive a waiver form via email” 
      • If a form is on file but needs to be revoked, 
        • There will be third line with a revoke link, click on that link.   
  • Building Services and Sports and Recreation Staff will continue to ensure that cleaning protocols take place throughout operating hours 
  • Guest Day Passes will be available. Members may bring up to two (2) guest per visit. Guests must be at least 17 years of age and present a picture ID to purchase a Day Pass. All guests must be accompanied by a recreation center member at all times. The guest will need to sign a waiver/release form to gain entry to the recreation center.
  • Patrons are encouraged to bring their own water bottle. Water bottle filling stations at the water fountains will be available
  • Tours of the facilities are permitted. Check out this video for a closer look at our programs!  
  • Sports and Recreation will only be accepting K-Cash at the Service Desks. (No cash or checks)

  • Yes, locker rooms will be available. 
  • Yes, specific areas may remain temporarily closed and repurposed if possible.   

    Fitness equipment has been relocated to the basketball courts at the RWC (Marietta Campus)

    The indoor pool at the Recreation and Wellness Center will not reopen due to concern with air circulation issues.  

    The tennis courts (6 & 8) located at the Student Recreation and Activities Center will be closed until further notice due to maintenance issues.

  • Currently, the Betty L. Seigel Student Recreation and Activities Center on the Kennesaw Campus and the Recreation and Wellness Center on the Marietta Campus are available.  

    The Perch and the Owls Nest will not be available for open play during the summer 2021 semester. 

  • At the Recreation and Wellness Center on the Marietta Campus, the facility entry and exit has been relocated to the northside of the facility. Now, you will enter and exit the facility through the doors located on the northside of the Basketball courts. Please look for signage directing you to the new entrance.

  • Yes, continue to check our virtual programming page for more information on programs/events this semester!

  • Unvaccinated individuals are strongly encouraged to continue to socially distance from others when possible while inside campus facilities.

  • Building Services and Sports and Recreation Staff have implemented cleaning protocols throughout operating hours for each facility. Gym wipes and hand sanitizer stations will be available. Patrons are highly encouraged to wipe down fitness equipment before and after use.

  • Yes, you can ask for assistance with spotting.

OwlFit

  • Yes, group fitness will be offered in-person. Group fitness will begin June 1, 2021 for the summer semester! 

  • Yes, personal training is being offered. Visit our website for the packages being offered. 

  • OwlFit is offering a variety of programs including Group Fitness, Personal Training, Small Group Coaching, and Workouts To-Go. Visit our website for more info on each program!

Aquatics

  • Swim equipment will be available for use. Please see Aquatics staff for additional information.

Outdoor Adventures 

Outdoor Gear Rental

  • Yes, stop by the Outdoor Adventures Suite or call (470-578-2289) for more information. 

  • Outdoor Adventures will be open Monday - Friday from 12pm-6pm 

  • Outdoor Adventures will rent basic camping equipment such as sleeping bags, backpacks, tents, ground pads, camp chairs, stoves and fuel, and water filters. We will also have stand up paddleboards and sit on top kayaks available.

  • All equipment can be rented daily with a daily rental rate. Rental prices are published on our equipment rental webpage.
  • Soft goods like sleeping bags, stuff sacks, and liners will be cycled through a washer and dryer between each use. Tents, backpacks, and sleeping pads will be washed and rinsed with soapy water, sprayed with an approved disinfectant, and hung to dry. Tent poles and hiking poles will be washed in soap and water and air-dried. Other equipment will be wiped off and sprayed with disinfectant.
  • Visit Outdoor Adventures during our open hours. Your equipment will be prepared and ready for you to pick up. Members are responsible for loading their equipment into their cars. Assistance can be request if available.

Climbing Gym

  • Yes, the Climbing Gym will be open Monday-Friday from 12pm-6pm. 

  • Yes, members may bring up to two (2) guest per visit. Guests must be at least 17 years of age and present a picture ID to purchase a Day Pass. All guests must be accompanied by a recreation center member at all times. The guest will need to sign a waiver/release form to gain entry to the recreation center.

  • Staff will clean all climbing hardware that was used during the session, counter tops, benches, storage cubbies, and door handles.

  • Ropes and harnesses can be checked out to a pair of climbers. Ropes will be set up for the specific climb and removed after climbing. Climbing shoes will be available and be sprayed with a disinfectant after each use.

  • Yes, it is recommended that you wash your hands before entering the Climbing Gym. You must use hand sanitizer prior to each climb. Stations are set up around the Climbing Gym for your use. We also have gym wipes available in the Climbing Gym so you can wipe down benches, door handles, etc. as needed.

  • Yes, Try Rock Climbing will be hosted every Tuesday from 3:00pm-6:00pm. This event will be “Clip N Climb” only. Rather than staff tying patrons into the climbing rope, the rope will have a set of 2 pre-tied carabiners that the patron can clip into themselves. 

Bike Shop

  • The Bike Shop is open 12pm-6pm Monday-Friday by appointment only. You can schedule a time to drop off your bicycle for service by visiting mysportsrec.kennesaw.edu. Reservations are available every 30 minutes from 12pm-5:30 pm Monday through Friday.

  • Yes, stop by the Outdoor Adventures Suite or call (470-578-2289) for additional information. 

  •  Tune-up includes complete wipe down with appropriate cleaner. Other equipment is cleaned using appropriate solution.

Nature Bound Trips

  • Yes, Nature Bound is offering trips. Details and dates can be found on the Nature Bound trip webpage. To participate, you must register in advance at mysportsrec.kennesaw.edu.

Intramural Sports

  • The Owls Nest and The Perch will be closed Summer 2021.

  • Spectators will be allowed for Fall Semester 2021. All spectators will be asked to follow the Spectator Guidelines. 

Club Sports

  • Yes, per the latest University and USG guidance, clubs are cleared to request to host competitions on-campus in effect for the Fall Semester 2021.

  • Yes, per the latest University and USG guidance, clubs are cleared to request to host competitions off-campus in effect for the Fall Semester 2021.

  • Yes, per the latest University and USG guidance, clubs are cleared to request to travel for competition in effect for the Fall Semester 2021.

  • The Club Sports staff are available to discuss creative ideas for these initiatives; contact your Club Mentor if you’d like to arrange a meeting.
