Recreational Facility Rules and Guidelines

    • All patrons must sign facility waiver prior to entry
    • Patron must always have KSU I.D. (or some form of government-issued photo ID) including Faculty/Staff and Alumni, or guest receipt present.
    • Patrons without the above written requirements must have an escort from a Department of Sports and Recreation representative
    • Personal and/or instructional training other than that scheduled through the Department of Sports and Recreation is prohibited
    • Patrons and guests must be at least 17 years of age
    • Personal belongings must be stored in a locker
    • No jeans or any other pant/shorts with buttons/rivets/zippers allowed
    • Sandals, flip-flops, and boots are prohibited
    • Please walk bicycles through the facility
    • Personal music must be listened to only via headphones
    • Do not remove or bring equipment in or out of its designated area
    • No spitting
    • Pets not permitted
    • Photography and video is prohibited
    • No glass containers, food, alcohol, tobacco products, or gum*
    • Students Groups, departments/offices, or non-KSU groups wishing to post materials in the Recreation Centers must be approved by the Marketing Coordinator. Please submit your materials to the Sports and Recreation office, suite 1100, in the Dr. Betty L. Siegel Student Recreation and Activities Center during operating hours or send an email with an attachment to sports_recreation@kennesaw.edu. Posting must have basic details (name of event, date, time, location, point-of-contact for inquiries). Any posting that is displayed in a non-approved location may be removed.

    Please note that facility and/or specific areas within the facility may be closed due to construction, renovation and/or safety concerns. As much as possible, the Department of Sports and Recreation will try to notify patrons in advances of any facility and area closures.

    *Exceptions may be permitted with prior reservation and/or consent in designated areas of the facility

    • Hanging on nets, rims, and other equipment is prohibited
    • No food or gum allowed on court
    • Non-marking athletic shoes only
    • Throwing objects against the wall/lights/fans/bleachers is prohibited
    • Non-marking athletic shoes only
    • Only racquetball and Wallyball allowed on court
    • Goggles or approved eye protection lenses is required at all times
    • 4 player maximum per court
    • Participants must shower off before entering the pool deck area
    • Do not hang or pull on nets
    • Report any malfunctions to staff
    • Courts may be closed at any time due to safety concerns
    • No loose bags or articles on or near track
    • Spiked shoes, turf shoes, or open-toed shoes are prohibited
    • Stretching is not allowed on the track
    • No fitness equipment permitted on the track
    • No more than two (2) runners or walkers side-by-side
    • Inside lanes are designated for walkers and the outside lanes are designated for joggers and runners
    • Must consume food or beverage in designated area (unless leaving the facility)
    • Clean up any mess that is made
    • Lockers are for day use only. Contents left overnight will be removed and put in lost and found.
    • The Department of Spots and Recreation is not responsible for lost or stolen items
    • No cellphone or camera use inside of the locker rooms or restrooms
    • Report any misconduct to the facility staff
    • It is recommended that patrons wear sleeved shirts and bring a towel
    • Closed-toed athletic shoes must be worn at all times
    • Do not lean or stretch on equipment
    • Report any malfunctions to staff-an equipment number is provided on all machines for quick reference
    • Dropping weights is not permitted
    • Please be mindful of others waiting for equipment
    • Appropriate attire is required at all times
    • Re-rack weights after using equipment
    • Proper gym etiquette is required at all times
    • It is recommended that patrons wear sleeved shirts and bring a towel
    • Closed-toed athletic shoes must be worn at all times
    • Do not lean or stretch on equipment
    • Report any malfunctions to staff-an equipment number is provided on all machines for quick reference
    • Dropping weights is permitted in designated area
    • Please be mindful of others waiting for equipment
    • Appropriate attire is required at all times
    • Re-rack weights after using equipment
    • Proper gym etiquette is required at all times
    • Athletic shoes only
    • No hanging from nets, rims, or goal supports
    • No tables or chairs on courts
    • No personal stereos are permitted

    • Only swim when a KSU lifeguard is on duty
    • Shower before entering the pool and after use of lavatories
    • Rinse sand off before entering the pool
    • Wear proper swim attire; refer to the Aquatics What to Wear poster for clarification
    • Stay in the shallow end of the pool if you cannot swim; guards may ask patrons to take a 25-yard swim test, before entering the deep end
    • Dispose of gum and band-aids before entering the water
    • Share pool lanes during peak times of high occupancy
    • Children under 3 years of age and not toilet trained must wear swim diapers
    • Only children 3 years of age or younger and of a different a gender from their parent/guardian, may enter locker rooms with that parent/guardian
    • Children under 18 years must always be accompanied by a parent/guardian; a ratio of one parent/guardian per four children 13 years of age and under must be present
    • Children who cannot swim must always be within an arm’s reach of a parent/guardian in the shallow end; there must be one parent/guardian per child who cannot swim in the water
    • Inclement Weather: The Aquatics Center will close for 30 minutes for each lightning/thunder that is seen/heard
    • Prohibited:
      • Dangerous practices and behaviors that include but are not limited to:
        • Running on the deck
        • Pushing, shoving, horseplay, or inappropriate behavior
        • Diving into the shallow end of the pool
        • Breath holding training, drills and exercises
        • Backward dives and flips
        • Hanging on lane ropes or handrails
      • Coaching, teaching, instruction, and personal training by non-Recreation staff
      • Diaper/clothes changing on the pool deck
      • Rude or disrespectful behavior to any staff member
      • Food and drink in the aquatic facility, except for water-filled plastic bottles
      • Cellphone or camera use inside of the locker rooms or restrooms
